The Time Counter is a Magic: The Gathering mechanic that's easy to misremember mid-game. Here's exactly what it does, plus a free on-screen tracker so you never lose count at the table.

What it does

Used on suspended cards and vanishing permanents to track a countdown; when the last time counter is removed, a triggered ability usually resolves.

Rules note

Time counters are typically removed one at a time during the upkeep step until none remain.
