The Rad Counter is a Magic: The Gathering mechanic that's easy to misremember mid-game. Here's exactly what it does, plus a free on-screen tracker so you never lose count at the table.

What it does
Introduced in the Fallout crossover set, rad counters represent radiation building up on a player. At the start of that player's precombat main phase they mill cards equal to their rad counters, losing 1 life and removing a rad counter for each nonland card milled this way.
Rules note
Rad counters go on players rather than permanents, similar to poison and experience counters, and can enable mill or reanimation strategies as a side effect of their downside.
